An important choice is to make, either you decide to take a SLR camera or you choose to take a compact digital camera.

We decided without hesitation to take two SLR cameras (Emilie and Romain) and a compact one (Matthew).  Why so many devices? Quite simply so that everyone has the right to take HIS photos.

Tiziana doesn’t have a camera… well, yes, a great Polaroid, but she will share the SLR with Romain.

Roman equipment

Camera: Nikon D3100.

Lens: Tamron 18 – 200mm.

Memory card: 8GB and 16GB.

Tripod: Gorillapod.

Emilia Equipment

Camera: Canon EOS 550d.

Lens: Canon 18 – 55mm.

Memory card: 8GB and 16GB.

Computer equipment

We bring a laptop for 4, a Macbook Pro 13.3″ unibody version of 2010. The advantage with this product is the battery life, the relatively strong aluminum shell and the versatility of the apple system ( Mac Os).

A small problem, however: According to the manufacturer’s data, a conventional hard disk drive stops working at altitudes above 3000 meters. So, I bought an SSD (Solid State Disk) that can operate up to about 18,000 meters…

We are still not protected from humidity, so I used a tropicalization varnish spray to protect the motherboard of the MacBook and the SSD disk.

As external storage we opt for an online space of 50 GB at www.box.net to save important photos and papers. We also each have a small USB key with our papers on it.
