Budapest Airport, also known as Ferenc Liszt International Airport, is located 16 km southeast of Budapest City Centre. It is the largest and most important international airport in Hungary and in 2017 had more than 13 million passengers.

Travelling to and from the airport is easy and there are a few options to choose from.

Public transport: the bus

There are two lines connecting the airport and the city centre: 100E and 200E. There is also a night line that you can combine to reach the city centre.

NOTE: Public transport tickets can be purchased at the airport from BKK service points, post offices, newsstands and ticket machines at a price of 350 HUF (1.20 euro). You can also buy the ticket from the driver, directly on the bus, but the price will be 450 HUF (1.50 euro). Make sure you have Hungarian forints (HUF) on you, as euros and other currencies are not accepted.

At the post office, you can also buy 24-hour, 72-hour, weekly and monthly tickets for Budapest public transport. The post office is located at Terminal 2A (mezzanine level). For the BudapestCard, which includes the use of public transport, you can ask the Budapest Info at the arrival area of terminals 2A and 2B.

Airport shuttle: the minibus

Budapest Airport has its own shuttle service, a minibus that will take you directly to your accommodation, or to your favourite destination in the Budapest area (door-to-door service), for the price from 1900 huf (7 eur), depending on the destination. You can pre-order the minibus service, and use the reservation number as confirmation of your transfer or you can pay the service in cash, to the staff at the minibus counters, where you will book your transfer.

Transfer

To reach your accommodation in Budapest, or to go to another city, the easiest way is to book a door-to-door transfer. You can do it online.

Taxi services

Fotaxi is the official taxi service of Budapest Airport. Their cabins are located at the exits of terminals 2A and 2B. All cars have a POS device that means they accept credit cards. From 2013, prices are regulated and a fixed rate has been introduced, so you can expect to pay about 7200 HUF (22 euros) for a trip to the city centre, depending on traffic. Please note that there are other unregulated drivers around the terminal building. To avoid being a victim of a scam, use the regulated service.

Rent a car at Budapest Airport

There are six car rental companies at Budapest Airport, including Sixt, Avis, Europcar, etc. You can find them at terminals 2A and 2B. You can compare their prices on the following link, save time and book online.

Rent a bus from Budapest Airport

If you are a large group arriving at the airport, you can consider renting a bus before you arrive; you can rent a bus to go to your hotel in Budapest or in any other city. Book your bus in time, so that you can organize pickup locations at the airport, usually the bus company can advise you on this part.
